History
Strabane & District Community Work Programme Ltd was established in May 1995 in order to deliver the CWP Pilot programme in the Strabane area. In the years since we have delivered many programmes, assisted a large number of individuals and provided much needed support for the community and voluntary sector.
The companies turnover for the first ten years of operation was £6 million with arround 75% of this spent within the District. Strabane CWP has provided more than £1.5 million of support to the community and voluntary sector and paid out more than £1.6 million in wages to people who were formerly unemployed. Community Work Programme
The CWP pilot programme was launched in the Strabane area in May 1995. The programme was developed and funded by the Department for Employment and Learning and awarded to Strabane, Fermanagh and West Belfast.
Worktrack
Worktrack was a Northern Ireland wide programme designed to assist the long term unemployed to return to work by providing them with temporary employment for up to 26 weeks with appropriate training.
Job Assist Centre
Job Assist Centre was a one to one, confidential service which aimed to assist people into employment or training by providing them with their own personal Support Worker.
Steps 2 Work
Steps 2 Work was a temporary employment programme that lasted up to 50 weeks and that enabled participants to work full or part time and be paid a wage in line with the National Minimum Wage.
U can 2
U can 2 was a personal development programme designed by Strabane CWP to give women the confidence and skills to return to the world of work.
Able 2 Work
Able2work was designed to assist those on Incapacity Benefit to return to work via temporary employment in the voluntary or social economy sector with associated training and one to one support.
New Deal
We offered elements of New Deal for 18-24 year olds as well as elements of New Deal for those aged over 25 years.
